Ship to shore radio

This work was filmed in Lecce in the south of Italy. I was making work looking at radio waves and coastal plants. I filmed nature and dubbed the footage with radio broadcasts picked up from Greece and Albania. Moreover, looking at southern Italy as the gateway to Europe opens up questions of borders and immigration (especially considering the sad and disturbing phenomenon of people having to swim from nearby islands to enter Europe) which are human constructs imposed on a natural setting. I was looking at water, plants, wind and radio waves as things that travel with the same fluidity, blurring and challenging border controls.
